Photography classes in Rochester, MI

This winter we will be having a few photography classes in the southeastern, Michigan area.
Photo 101 will be held at the Royal Park Hotel in Rochester, MI on 2/26.
It is a large group lecture format where I will be teaching everything you need to know about your camera and the different settings and how/when to use them. We will also cover some basics of Photoshop enhancing. The details can be found here:

Photo 102 will be held at our studio in Rochester Hills, on 3/11.
This class is a very small group class for people that want to spend time using their equipment in a hands-on environment to learn and practice how the different camera settings will affect the resulting images.

Great turnout for Photo 101

Today was our Photo 101 class and I’m super excited that we had a great turnout of around 200 people at the always amazing Royal Park Hotel in downtown Rochester.

Photography Classes in Metro Detroit

We have a few southeastern michigan photography classes coming up.

If you like taking photos but have no idea what you are doing with your camera, then you will want to take the Photo 101 class.
October 23 is the large group basic photography workshop (Photo 101) where we will teach beginners all of the camera fundamentals.

If you are familiar with some of the terms and concepts but just not comfortable with how to do everything on your camera, then you will want to take the more hands-on photography class.

Announcing – 2012 Travel Photography Workshop

We have two landscape and travel photography workshops that we are excited to announce. Both workshops are meant to teach you the fundamentals of travel photography and better understand light, time of day, and how to plan properly to get the best photos.

1) In March of 2012 I will be taking a group to photograph the canyons of the southwest in Arizona and Utah.
Some of the highlights will be Zion Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Arches, Canyonlands, Mesa Verde, Canyon de Chelly, Monument Valley, Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, and the Grand Canyon.

2) In November of 2012 we will be going to Northern Spain to explore the mountains and historic cities.
Highlights include Madrid, Barcelona, Coca Castle, medieval towns and structures, the Bilbao Guggenheim, Castle Butron, sunrise on the Bay of Biscay, the Pyrenees mountains, old monestaries, harbor towns, and much more!

Photography 101 ($125) – A brand new photo class for people that love taking pictures – Held at the Royal Park Hotel.

On April 17th from 9:30-3:00, award winning photographer Prem Mukherjee from Arising Images will be teaching an intro photography course at the Royal Park Hotel in Rochester, MI. This class is designed for ANYONE who loves taking photos even if you only have a point and shoot camera. It will start at the absolute basics of equipment and accessories, get into downloading, organizing, and printing of images, followed by some lessons in composition. After a break for lunch, the class will get more detailed into the different settings on the camera, what they are for, and how to get better photos by adjusting them. The class will end with what everyone wants to see…how to do some super quick edits to your pictures to make them look better!!
The class is $125.

For years, I’ve been trying to really grasp things like aperature and shutter speed. I took a photography class, got a couple good photography books, and read my camera manual hoping to start using the "creative zones." But, in between these attempts, I kept forgetting what little I understood.
Not anymore! Thanks to Prem of Arising Images, I am off the auto settings and will never go back! His ability to explain the technical aspects of photography in simple to understand terms made all the difference, as did the chance to practice what we learned right in class.
The Photoshop DVD lessons are so helpful, too. I never knew what a difference using Photoshop could make to my photos. It is amazing!
If you really want to take your photography to the next level, this is the class for you. I strongly suggest reading the manual before class, as recommended, and experimenting a little with your camera as you do. It is a fast-paced day of learning A LOT. Come prepared, and you will take away enough to make it worth every penny and then some.

Arising Images provides an opportunity to learn the basics of beginning and/or intermediate photography in a comprehensive 8 hour day which, in my opinion, beats having to attend a class weekly for a period of time which doesn’t help me carryover the material. The class is adapted to accommodate various skill levels additionally. I was most impressed by the organization of the course…having some lecture material and breaking up for hands-on exercise stations to immediately apply what you just learned was extremely helpful! This also includes the brief, reader-friendly manual which ultimately breaks down the technical aspects easily with photo examples– I found it much easier to understand and has much more functional application than other long photography instruction books I have tried to comprehend. Oh, and how handy it is to have a take home DVD tutorial to be able to refer to more lessons, including photoshop, in user friendly demonstrations and at your convenience! Bonus! The hospitable and welcoming environment makes it all the more enjoyable as well. A highly recommended “crash course”…. five stars or more!!!
