This weekend we had some free time and had the opportunity to go to Port Sanilac and hang out with our friends. The Tice’s have a cottage on lake Huron and we had a nice relaxing weekend. We sat around and talked, played a little basketball, enjoyed the calmness of the lake, and watched the dogs play.

We shot pictures of Fallon O’Connor this morning. She was a sweet baby but did NOT want to have her picture taken. We tried shooting in the studio but she just didn’t like it so we just went into the living room for a little while and then right about when we were finished up, she started to loosen up a little bit. Luckily we were able to snag some good shots during the few times that she giggled here and there.

This evening we had an engagement shoot with Kim and Terry. It was a pretty chilly evening so they had to keep eachother warm. Engagement shoots are always a great opportunity to get out some of the pre-wedding jitters when it comes to photography. People typically are not used to having cameras pointed at them and it can be a little nerve-wracking. The engagement shoot gets couples used to the camera so that on the wedding day, it can be more relaxing.

Yesterday was a spectacular day for a wedding. The weather couldn’t have been much nicer!! Joe and Dana Kemp’s wedding was really nice. They were very laid back and had a lot of fun together all day long. Dana has a young daughter (Tori) from a previous marraige and as part of the ceremony, Joe gave Dana a ring AND Tori a ring to symolize the unity of their new family. It was very cool!
For the bride/groom pics we went to downtown plymouth. Dana’s aunt own’s a candy store so we took a few pics there and just walked around and had some fun.

I just received my upgrade to Corel Painter IX.5 and I had a little time to play around tonight and paint one of my pics from Africa.

This evening we did some pictures with Stephen Sperry. He was really laid back and easy to work with. There was a slight drizzle while we were outside, but the soft overcast light was perfect for taking pictures and we finished right before it started to rain harder.

Last night was the dance rehearsal for the Kensington Art School’s Upper Dance group. The main performance will be tonight. We took a few photos so that the church can use them for their advertising, etc.

Monday evening we shot some senior pictures for Pat Zeigler. Pat and his family go to our church and Pat is hoping to move to South Africa to work in the same area that we just got back from.

Saturday afternoon was Kristan and John Balthis’ wedding. The weather was absolutely perfect, with warm sun and a cool breeze. The sun made the photography quite difficult because bright sun makes bright highlights and dark shadows on people’s faces. Everything worked out ok though. After their wedding we took a break from doing pics so they could go in and watch the Kentucky Derby on TV. It’s always cool when the couples personalities and interests can be incorporated into the wedding day.

Friday night was Bruce and Alyssa’s wedding. They had a small and very personal ceremony at the Royal Park Hotel in Rochester MI. There was a small hiccup at the beginning of the day with the design of the dress, but it was quickly taken care of and everything else went off without a hitch.
