At last week’s Ballroom Bliss event that we attended, there was an amazing table designed by the Linen Hero’s that followed the theme from the movie “UP”. There was a cute little house being lifted off by giant balloons provided by Crystal Balloons.
I had the brilliant idea that I would be a hero if I could bring those awesome balloons home for Mayz. After they event they let us bring home the balloons so we were super excited. Then we got out to the car and realized they were WAY too big to put in the car.
We had to have them hanging out the window and then drive home at 25 mph. On the way home we could occasionally hear a POP and knew that we were losing a few but there was nothing we could do.
When we got home, Mayz was still up and he saw the giant balloons and lit up. Problem is…they were too big to get inside the house. We had to basically jam them through the door. During this process, balloons started popping like a machine gun and Mayz got totally freaked out and started crying. By the time we got it inside, half of the small balloons were popped but the giant balloon in the middle was still intact so we decided to keep it around. However, at random times, a balloon would just pop for no apparent reason, further traumatizing Mayz.
We put him to bed and hoped when he woke up in the morning, he would have fun with it. I took the second pic below of him just looking at it but then he kept saying “balloons are scary” and running away. For the rest of the day, we realized that he was so freaked out by them that he wouldn’t even go in his play room.
So…I went from hero to zero pretty fast! What a bummer!!
Oh well…it’s a funny story to look back on!

Yesterday we had a fun photo shoot with Father Phil Ching at St. Lawrence Parish in Utica, MI. He’s being featured in the Knights of Columbus magazine for their June issue and they needed some photos of him in his environment. Father Ching is a super laid back guy who is the type of person that makes everyone feel welcomed from the first time he smiles and laughs.

Monday night we were able to be a part of an awesome event called Ballroom Bliss at the Royal Park Hotel.
Ballroom Bliss is an opportunity for the Royal Park and many of it’s partner vendors to put on a show for past, present, and future clients of the Hotel.
They had a fantastic selection of food and beverages along with some amazing table setups done by the hotel along with a number of florists and wedding planners.
We also had the chance to have a table setup where we got to show off some of our albums and images.
It was an electric atmosphere where everyone had a great time!

Earlier this week we had the chance to photograph our good friends at MKD Wealth Coach – Mike Komara, Joe Mackey, and John Dankovich are the three partners.
We know them both in a professional sense and on a personal level and have a longstanding relationship with their company and families.
For anyone looking for a financial adviser, these guys are top notch.
You can find them at http://www.mkdwealthcoach.com
They are being honored with a feature in Forbes magazine so that was the reason for this photo shoot.

Last week we had a great time shooting photos with Rob and Lauren. They have a lot of fun together and definitely had a lot of laughs which made the photos look really casual and natural.
We’re looking forward to shooting their wedding later this year!!

As many of you know, we are currently in the process of adopting two boys. With this new responsibility we knew that Cheridy was going to have a full plate and knew that it was time to find an employee. After posting an ad, we received over 220 applications in less than a day and a half. Valerie was the shining star. She’s a personal trainer, has a business degree, is incredibly organized and efficient, a quick learner and super friendly. Cheridy and I couldn’t be more excited to have her as part of our team.
In the few days she’s been with us, she’s already taking charge and reorganizing the entire office which is exactly what we needed. We are looking forward to building our business with her on board!

On Wednesday we had the opportunity to photograph Colleen. Last year we took high school senior photos for her older sister Katie and now it was Colleen’s turn. Colleen brought her dog Thor who we learned is a huge fan of cheez-its!

A few days ago we had a really fun photo shoot with little Caitlin. She was really adorable with a great mix of shy and playful.
Caitlin had a lot of fun riding around on her scooter and occasionally looking up at the camera with her shy little smile.

Last week we had an incredible photo shoot with the Barnes family. Their girls were ridiculously adorable with their little pink dresses.
When we do kids photography, we love to let the kids run and play and do what they do while we can capture really natural and fun pictures of them.
These girls definitely had a blast!!
