CANS FOR COMMENTS!
Leave a comment or read comments. Currently there are (14) comments.Ok, so here’s the deal, this is Cheridy and I’m pretty sure this is my first blog post! “What?” you say? Yes, this is true. Trust me when I say there have been many times I have come up with the most clever of ideas and funny one-liners, things like that, but when I heard someone else do what I have been convicted to write today on their blog I said “Ok, that’s it – I’m gonna step up and do this!”
Here is why I got so stoked (does anyone even say “stoked” anymore?):
If you leave a comment on our blog before December 22 we will donate a can to the Gleaners Food Bank or to the Grace Centers of Hope in Pontiac. You can either let us know if you have a preference or we will do our best to split them up.
Here are some CAN and CANNOT’s:
* The comment CANNOT be short and without substance. (I know this has room for debate but come on and just say something cool!)
* The comment CAN be on any post so get on there and look at some of our greatest posts from the past.
* The comment must (CAN) be posted by the end of the day DEC 21 (as I would like to deliver them on the 22nd or 23rd).
* The comment CAN include ideas on how to help in other ways to other folks (*the elderly :: companionship or food, *children :: clothing, *the lonely :: friendship or games…) creativity could earn another can, you just never know!!
I think this will get us well on our way to making a small dent in a huge need but if we all pull together we could bless someone who needs to eat!
If you are looking for other ways to get involved in helping in Detroit or other areas let us know we would love to pass on ideas of things we know about. Also, if you have other items you would like us to deliver while we are there (toiletries, clothing, etc.) get them to me before then and I’ll do it. If anyone is interested in delivering with us we would love to have you! Leave us a comment!!!
Thank you so much for reading this and I hope to be inspired to write another post again soon!
- Cheridy
Edited by Prem to add: Hey everyone…leave comments on OTHER posts too! Find your favorite portrait, wedding, or fine art post and leave a comment. More comments=more cans!

This is a VERY cool idea! I hadn’t read it on any other blogs before today. I’m not one to often have ‘cool’ things to say but I’ll do my best to make sure it’s not short but maybe without substance. Anything to get you to deliver another can for a good cause. And the Pfeiffers would love to deliver with you if you end up with so many comments that you don’t have room to do it on your own : ) I”m going to post about this everywhere I can think of so hopefully you will be over-whelmed with comments!

I am touched that you will be donating Canned foods for the needy. My friend Sonyia forwarded this nice note to me. My daughters and I volunteer at Gleaners each year to help pack up food. I commend you for your generosity. Happy Holidays to you and your families!

Cheridy,
I think this is a phenomenal idea! If I were in town I would say that our family would help. May the people of Detroit have more cans than they ever thought possible and may this blog reach thousands!!
You have got me thinking! Maybe I will do the same thing for the Port Huron area! I have a website, http://www.sparkles-that-last and could put a blog on there to do something similar!
Keep up the good work!
Sandy

You and Prem are always inspiring me with your photography and your kindness. Your thoughts and care for others is a breath of fresh air, especially for the people that NEED to go to these two places of hope. I would like to go beyond this post and match a can for every post also! God bless.

What a wonderful example you are for so many people. If only more people would get involved in helping others. You are also setting a wonderful example for your son.
Every year my family “adopts” a family for Christmas. This is the first year that my girls were very excited to pick out toys and clothing to give to others.
I will pass this on to others in hopes that you “can” help many people.

For some time your website has inspired the amateur photographer in me however, this post inspires so much more. If there were more people like you two, the world would be a better place. Thank you for sharing a bit of your daily lives. May God continue to bless you.

Last week I volunteered at a Brown Santa warehouse. We sorted toys and books, but spent most of our time shopping for new toys for kids whose parents could otherwise not afford it. We spent $3,700 at Walmart in 2 hours! It blew my mind, but reminded me of the very needy families that can look forward to at least one thing this holiday season. That being, the delight on their children’s faces when they open their gifts on Christmas morning. In our childhood, my siblings and I were lovingly “adopted” by an elderly couple of our church who went above and beyond to provide us with gifts that our parents could not. So thank you, Cheridy, Prem and Mayz! Merry Christmas!

Grace Centers of Hope is a fantastic, Christian charitable organization that is spreading the Word and providing food and shelter for adults and children in need. I have visited their Pontiac site and seen first-hand the good work they are doing. Pastor Kent Clark who runs Grace is truly inspiring and forward thinking. Thank you for offering to support this worthy organization.
