The Homeless Video

Don Pham and Jamie Honce shot some video when we were down there recently and Don put together a really powerful piece. This is Terry and Thaddeus who we had the chance to talk to and interview. The main goal of this piece is to help raise awareness to the importance of doing what you can to help our neighbors in need. We want to continue heading down there to help tell their stories and make people realize that there are real people with real struggles right nearby. What a powerful piece! For those of us who frequent the “D” we see these people and label them as homeless. When in reality they are people that are facing harder times than most. They are not all bad people but people who are in a bad situation. I hope others will see this and reach out in their own way to help another person in need.
The artistic and emotional value of this piece is priceless! WOW!

Wow. I visit your blog regularly and I’ve been in awe at your Detroit Project – this piece is moving. I’ve always had an affection for the city, both its glamour and decay. The people living each day with frustration, who are stuck in the “spiderweb” (fantastic analogy), deserve more. If you have room for one more tagalong on any trips, I’d love to head down with you and be able to document the experience on my photo blog as well. It is unfortunate that people choose to turn a cold shoulder to those who are suffering, to those who are stuck – they cannot receive enough support. Please let me know if I can help to reach out in any way. Kudos for putting this together.
