Greg and Alex…it all started on an engagement session on a farm in the early 1900’s. Theirs was one of our most creatively fun and detailed engagement sessions we had the pleasure to shoot.
And talk about humorous, laid back people. These two really know how to get great Detroit wedding photography done the way they want it done! All I can say is don’t get in her way. Haha!
Alex’s dresses were made by her aunt who is a professional seamstress. She made them really beautiful and she made it easy for Alex to move around in.
Greg was not tough to look at either. His groomsmen took great care to get his coat and tie just right and for the wedding he kept his pants out of his socks (he did a fun golfing shot when we did his rustic engagement pictures in Lake Orion, MI). He really was a handsome groom.
Everyone got ready at the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel in Detroit before heading over to the Sweetest Heart of Mary Church in Detroit.
Now this couple is surely a detail focused couple. Her mother had been collecting broaches for years, even making it to auctions to get them. They used them to make THE MOST ORNATE (and heavy) bouquet I think mine eyes have ever seen. It really was an impressive detail.
Our last stop of the day was at the Fillmore Detroit across from Comerica Park, so surely we would find our way over to Comerica Park as Greg and many, if not all, of his groomsmen were pretty passionate about baseball. You didn’t hear this from me but the Detroit Tigers mascot, Paws, may or may not have made an appearance at their Fillmore wedding reception!
The Fillmore Detroit was the perfect place to have a reception. Being in a historic building like that takes you to a different time (having been built in 1925), even if you were not “into it” you wouldn’t be able to help yourself. What a beautiful venue. We did almost find ourselves in a little pickle at the end of the night as the Tigers game was ending near our exit time and all day was a jazz festival so we were a little nervous about that traffic situation but we were golden, no problems.
All in all, Julie Hall from Jewell Occasions took care of Alex and Greg, their families and friends and every detail all over Detroit – even us!
