While Detroit is known for many things, I think beauty is not one of the first things that would jump into someone’s mind. Thankfully, it does for AJ and Michelle and their end of September downtown Detroit wedding just goes to show how breathtaking the city can be. Their wedding day began at the awe inspiring and historic First Congregational Church of Detroit were their friends and family gathered together to witness the couple’s nuptials. The striking coloration of the ceilings and stately architecture of the cathedral made a stunning backdrop for their heartfelt ceremony.
Once vows were exchanged and the couple was exuberantly pronounced Mr. & Mrs., we set off with Michelle, AJ and their bridal party to take advantage of the many unique photography locations in Detroit. From waterfront bride and groom photos to cool city landscape pictures only the D has to offer, being able to capture awesome city bridal pics was a snap.
After taking the scenic route for fun bridal party photos, we finally arrived at the always dapper Macray Harbor were the couple was hosting their nautical inspired reception. Bellisario lanterns surrounded by beautiful cream hydrangeas and roses atop navy and white striped runners adorned some of the guest tables while romantic candlelight trios and simple floral arrangements complimented the other striped accents. Their reception was understated elegance at its finest.
Before their celebration was in full swing, we headed outside one last time to utilize the natural enchantment of the sunset as dreamy backdrop to showcase natural love between Michelle and AJ. Quite honestly, this has to be one of our all time favorite bride and groom sunset photos to date.
Best wishes to you always, AJ and Michelle! Thank you for allowing us to document your lovely nautical wedding day.
