We want you to feel your best in your senior pictures – so we’re here to help! Our editor Hope has 5 easy tips on how to look amazing in your senior pictures! With these tips under your belt, senior pics will be a breeze.
Here’s what Hope was talking about in that video:
As the photo editor here at Arising Images, she’s gone through a lot of senior pictures. She’s noticed some of the common mistakes that people can make when thinking about how to look for their senior session, so here are her top five tips on how to look great in every shot!
Tip 1: Don’t be too adventurous with your appearance. We know it can be tempting to try a new haircut, get a spray tan for a nice glow, or put on some extra bold makeup for a look that pops, but the majority of our clients who try these things end up calling us to reschedule their shoot. Stick to a look you feel comfortable in and a look you love!
Tip 2: Wear soft colors. Some people love how they look in bright colors and bold patterns, and it’s true, you probably look great! But photos work a little differently. Light will bounce off your bright clothes and cast a hue of that color on your face, so if you wear lime green, you face will show a greenish cast. Not to mention, some bright colors are just too distracting. To keep the focus on you, we suggest going with neutral or more muted colors so that you shine through!
Tip 3: Wear fitted clothes. So many of our clients say they wear loose, flowy, or baggier clothing because they feel that it’s more flattering. But again, photos work differently! When we go through images of a photo session, if our client is wearing flowy clothing, they just end up looking bigger than they actually are! Stick to fitted, structured pieces that accentuate your natural waist.
Tip 4: Dress for the weather. We know this seems obvious, but we have seen many sweaty photo shoots and many cold ones as well. You don’t want to be all shiny, but you also don’t want to be shivering and tense in all your pictures either! Dress so you’ll be comfortable outside for about an hour.
Tip 5: Have some fun! Wear that funky necklace you love. Go for some awesome heels. Make one of your outfits a super fun, trendy dress. The more personality you show, the more you’ll love your pictures! We know it can be intimidating to be professionally photographed if you’ve never had it done before, but the more you can relax and be yourself, the more your pictures will create some awesome memories!
